Dunfermline Opera House
This film was inspired by the impending demolition of the Dunfermline Opera House to make way for the Kingsgate Centre and bus station in 1982. It began as a stills project but was expanded into a film containing comments from many notable local personalities and contains the only moving image of the place being demolished.
Comments included those from Jimmy Logan, filmed in his dressing room. Also Mr George Haldane who was the last drummer in the Operal House Band and Nettie Dick, a playwright who produced and wrote many amateur dramatic productions along with comedy performances.
The auditorium itself was cut up, saved and stored and was later rebuilt in Sarasota, Florida.
